Who?

Bluebird Azurite is my favorite character of all time, but who is she? If you’re a casual viewer of Steven Universe you may not recognize Bluebird as she appears in only one episode, one eleven minute episode of which she only has two minutes of screen time. Bluebird Azurite is the fusion of Aquamarine and Eyeball Ruby, formed out of mutual hatred for Steven Universe.

In her debut (and as of now only) episode she infiltrates Steven’s life and attempts to enact her revenge against Steven and his friends before promptly being defeated and flying away.

Origins

Back in January of 2025 I started getting a lot of Steven Universe comic dubs on my recommended and this led to renewed interest in the show (I watched Steven Universe when I was younger, but I was always more of a fan of The Amazing World of Gumball). A lot of the reviews I saw about SU said that the epilogue series Steven Universe Future wasn’t very well written, so I had the idea search for a rewrite. And that’s how I found SU: Future (REWRITTEN) by KiwiQueen 13 on YouTube. I thoroughly enjoyed the rerwrite even though I hadn’t fully watched the original. Chapter 10 introduced Bluebird Azurite and I had no idea about the background or context of her character, but I immediately loved her nonetheless. Now Bluebird is still one of my main special interests long after my Steven Universe hyperfixation burnt out.
